In Australia, these stunning arboreal pythons are restricted to the rainforests of eastern Cape York. Their distribution also extends to Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya and other offshore Islands.
.
Masters of disguise, the green and yellow colouration of these pythons is perfectly suited to life camouflaged in the rainforest trees. They use the end of their tail (which you can see is a different colour to the rest of their body) to lure in their prey within striking range! 
.
Habitat destruction is the greatest threat to GTP’s.
